I love the presidential primary season. Most Americans say they hate it, but I love it for  Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Mike Huckabee, and even Bernie Sanders and his 90% tax proposal. The Donald is used to saying whatever he wants, whenever he wants to say it. So in his speech to announce his “candidacy” he called immigrants from Mexico rapists and basically sex offenders and drug lords.

Some time ago I wrote about the courage that it takes to fail.  I recounted the story of “Honest Abe” and how many times he failed before he achieved success. In this world that is so focused on success we have forgotten that the most successful people have failed many times, picked themselves up and tried again.

So you did it? You booked a vacation and you are actually going to leave your business. For many small business owners taking a vacation is scary. What if a customer needs you? What if a project gets derailed and your team needs you? What if nobody needs you or for that matter does not even notice that you are gone?

That’s really scary!

Often, people running a business at home are dismissed as hobbyists, but new research suggests that assumption is far from true.  A new analysis by Emergent Research, Homepreneurs: A Vital Economic Force, argues that home-based businesses are not only operating successfully, well established and long lasting, but also making contributions to employment and the economy.

Many business people use sports analogies and stories to promote teamwork, spur a spirit of competition and help develop the mental toughness of professional athletes. This past weekend I watched a lot of the U.S. Open. I love golf and I think there are some good lessons to be learned by watching the competition but that’s not what this blog is about. The lesson I learned is very different. It has nothing to do with sports and everything to do with business. First a little background for the non-golfers. This was the first year that Fox Sports became the broadcast partner for the U.S.
