This past week I attended the National Plastics Exposition (NPE) to do some videotaping for a client. As I walked the massive show at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando I marveled at the booths. One had a machine that was literally as big as a house. Others had smaller, but still impressive, equipment, videos and displays. So I started to wonder if trade shows are a viable marketing activity for small business… or are they just for the “big guys?”

The answer is not as easy as you might think.

In this day and age of social media, contests are all the rage. At CK & CO we have sponsored contests and competed in contests. This past year we sponsored a video contest for high school and college students and awarded a cash prize. We also just competed in a contest sponsored by Supplier Connection. http://supplierconnectionblog.net/cynthiakaythinkcreatively/

Both were great visibility boosters for our business but before you decide to do either there are a few things you might want to consider.

In this fast-paced, high-pressure, sales-oriented world, many are hungry for CONTENT. That’s right, something they can actually use to make their job easier or help them better understand issues and face challenges. In another word—information!
