Few pieces of legislation have triggered as much controversy as the Affordable Care Act, or “Obamacare.” Some disdain it as a governmental intrusion into private decisions about healthcare, while others admire it as a much-needed reform of the nation’s healthcare system. Regardless of your view, it is now a necessary element in every CEO’s business planning.

Does your company have fewer than 50 employees? You are exempt from the ACA’s “employer responsibility” requirements, and don’t have to provide your workers with health insurance. You have a lot of company, by the way; 96% of all firms in the USA, or 5.8 million out of the 6 million employers in the nation, are exempt.

It goes without saying that both IBM and HP are legendary giants within the IT industry. 

However, each has suffered from a similar set of problems in the past, and now those issues are once again setting the stage for disaster.  These include a lack of vision, extremely poor decision making on part of their leadership, a continual focus on the wrong priorities, and the same old cheap bag of tricks being used time and again.

As we well know, there are a number of challenges to face to be successful in business today. Senior executives and entrepreneurs are faced with a marketplace that constantly changes, pressure from investors or stockholders, regulatory issues and many other challenges. These challenges need to be addressed with limited resources and extreme speed. To fulfill commitments and drive success in the near term and long term, it is essential that all resources are clear on their purpose, aligned and executing to their fullest potential.
