I’m an experience junkie.

I’m an avid helicopter skier and snowboarder with more than 1,300 backcountry heli drops. I’ve completed the New York City Marathon and the Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon.

I’ve skydived solo, bungee jumped in New Zealand, dove with great white sharks off South Africa, trekked in Bhutan, and hiked to the Mount Everest base camp.

What if you changed the belief that the primary purpose of business is to make money to a different belief: The purpose of business is to serve.

Hard-nosed businesspeople push back on this idea with a traditional argument: “You can serve all you want, but this soft stuff doesn’t make you money, and if you don’t make a profit, you will go out of business. Then you won’t be serving anyone.”

the ceo magazine, business management,

There have been a few articles in various media outlets recently about how businesses will be shifting to more contract workers in lieu of hiring salaried workers through the year 2020.   However, this practice has already been going on for more than two decades at most of the major companies in the world, so with it being on even more of an upswing in the coming years, some practical discussion is warranted regarding the subject .

A client recently spoke at her own event. As anyone knows that has hosted an event, any event is kind of like the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. It takes what either is or feels like a year’s worth of planning for an event to go off with few hitches.

So to go through the time and expense of putting on an event you want it to go well: especially if you are the speaker at your own event. You want to shine when you have created the spotlight on you.

The morning after this event my client texted me. She felt she had not been “on top of her game”.

What will they need to do?

Predicting the future is risky; nonetheless the following trends offer some clues.

Financial and Social Profit

Many global business leaders know that delivering for society also delivers for the business. Some consider this cynical. Others see it as liberating. Most people much prefer to work in a business, or buy from one that makes a profit and helps others.
