Getting paid on time is a cornerstone of success for all companies, regardless of size. However, maintaining a healthy cash flow is especially important for small businesses; just a handful of late or missed payments can be devastating.

What’s problematic is that small businesses are overlooking a simple risk management tool that can help mitigate or avoid this issue altogether: credit reports.

There are very few things that scare us more than change. When the doctor says “exercise more,” we respond with a list of reasons why we don’t have the time. When it’s time to install new or upgraded software, your end users are quick to scream about lost productivity while learning it. Change is necessary, but it’s a monster at the door, instilling fear, panic, and resistance – just ask my colleagues how I responded to Windows 8!

BRAND

~~I was recently asked a common question during a Q&A. “What is a brand?” Believe it or not, I get asked this question all the time, simply because the word “brand” carries with it many different definitions. Depending on what one does for a living, what they’ve heard, what they’ve learned, or how they perceive their own “brand” the word has different meanings to different people. Some common definitions of brand are: a logo; a company; a product; a jingle; a trademark. Others think branding is advertising and marketing.

In the corporate community, the primary focus for the majority of companies is on identifying, recruiting, training and retaining top and “key-to-retain” talent. Many companies are excellent in the front-end activity, but are very short-sighted in the back-end foundational initiatives such as coaching, mentoring and engagement of that talent, which are the true retainer solutions.

At the pace of life today, time is money.  We do not have time to waste with long meetings or long decision-making timelines.  While we would like to have long conversations and time to think before we act, often we do not have that luxury.  Our words, and questions, have more power now than ever before.
